So I went on a plant-based diet on a trip down to the Los Angeles area, which is my home away from home! I did my research and had some amazing vegan cuisine.

Here are some great places to try if you are in the area:

A little note about my pricing system: Price below is assuming one entree without drinks or an appetizer.

Follow Your Heart

If you’re vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, or just health-conscious chances are you have come into contact with one of Follow Your Heart’s products such as Vegenaise, dressings, vegan cheeses, etc. They also have a restaurant which is attached to a market with their products and next store they own a yoga studio. Cool! We had their vegan nachos and the wok stir-fry. Everything on the menu looks so amazing that if I still lived down there I would be adding more visits to my schedule!

SunCafe Organic

This place does NOT disappoint. Whether you get a smoothie, a  tempeh burger, salad, pizza, or the sun nachos (all things that I have had here) or otherwise you will leave satisfied. They have tons of options for raw vegans, soy-free, and gluten-free as well.

Tony’s Darts Away

Besides having a resume of being voted one of the best beer bars in the US and having a impressive amount of beers on tap which are all California beers (Oregon beers are better, but we’ll let that slide!), Tony’s Darts Away also has an extensive vegan menu. I got the Italian Stallion sausage and split “Becky’s Bad Ass Buffalo Potatoes” which true to the name were pretty badass. The menu does have meat options but practically anything can be made vegan or vegetarian. Two thumbs up!

Gracias Madre

This place was more pricey but comparable with West Hollywood, still I was shocked at paying $10 for chips/salsa/guacamole. I’m so used to a Mexican restaurant having free chips/salsa or at least charging very little! Regardless if you have some extra change, definitely hit this restaurant up. It was SO delicious and when we were there it was super popular. Even the $15 margarita was delicious. We split mole enchiladas and tacos. Delicioso!

Blu Jam Cafe

This restaurant is not vegan but very health conscious and vegan friendly. We split the vegan organic tofu rancheros and we also created our own egg white scramble the second time. You can convert their brown cage-free eggs they use to tofu, and exchange potatoes to mixed greens or fresh fruit (and they actually give you a lot of fruit!) for no charge. We loved the healthy options here so much we ate here twice!

NEIGHBORHOOD- Calabasas

Recommend- Create your own omelette/scramble for maximum options!
